painter watching his own art

Born in 1963 in a small Venetian village, Lorenzo Galiazzo - alias Ash - embodies the restless spirit of abstract expression.

Educated in the rigors of a liceo classico, he secretly nurtured an artistic passion that led him to self-taught landscapes, defying the structured expectations of his early years. His detour into architecture deepened his understanding of how form and space evoke emotion—a dialogue that would later become central to his work.

In university, a course in figure drawing expanded his horizons, allowing him to explore the tension between the conscious and the subconscious. This exploration matured into a lifelong inquiry:

how do shapes and colors spark emotional responses in both the artist and the viewer?

In particular, the combination of shapes, colors, and materials has the power to evoke emotions and thoughts—sometimes superficial, sometimes deep, often indefinable, as they arise from our unconscious, beyond rational processes.

The arrival of fatherhood rekindled his creative impulse, but it was the global pause of the 2020 pandemic that ignited a dramatic artistic renaissance. With time and space to experiment, Ash transformed every surface of his home—walls, showers, even window glass—into a vibrant canvas. This living gallery, pulsating with bold color and kinetic energy, reaffirmed his belief in art as an immersive experience.

Today, Ash’s work is a masterful interplay of deliberate brushstrokes and raw spontaneity. His gestural lines and dynamic compositions invite viewers into a realm where everyday reality meets the subconscious, challenging traditional boundaries. Ash offers an electrifying journey into abstraction—a celebration of movement, introspection, and the transformative power of art.
